In 1989, Bishop Tolbert became Senior Pastor of Christ Temple Church , 3400 Paseo. He is the former 2 term President of the Concerned Clergy Coalition of Greater Kansas City (an ecumenical group comprising of 18 Denominations and over 300 Pastors), President of Sparrow Community Development Corporation, Board Member of the Friends of Sacred Structures, Director of Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy, Civic Council Race Relations Board, Vice Chairman of the Northwestern District Council, and National Treasurer of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.

Bishop Tolbert has been married to Emelda Tolbert since 1978. There were two children born into this marriage, Mark, Jr. (Gone Home to Glory) and Britton Elliot.
 
The church congregation has grown considerably over the past few years. Each week our services can be seen on television in the Greater Kansas City Area 5 times.  We are carrying the gospel to our community, our city, our world.

Our church recently built a 40,000 square foot Educational Wing, where the Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy Charter School is housed.  The second phase of the Lee A. Tolbert Community Center is now under construction.  Our ministry presently has a food pantry where we feed the hungry and working poor each week. We host “Feed the Multitude”, a program where we feed the lonely, homeless, and many others each year. During this program we feed over 1000 individuals. Our Christian Education Electives are creating new excitement in the community as we move toward skills-based teaching. With our Computer Learning Center , we have managed to help hundreds of youth and adults find help and direction for their futures. Since receiving the mantle to pastor Christ Temple Church in July of 1989, our ministry has grown and flourished under the leadership of Bishop Mark Tolbert.  Christ Temple Church has over 75 active ministries with Christian Education and the Christian Education Electives being at the forefront.   

Bishop Tolbert is currently building a new sub-division on a 60 acre parcel God blessed him to purchase.  The sub-division is a 20 million dollar project; over the next 3-5 years, there will be more than 75 homes in Dominion Estates and Dominion Heights upon completion.
